The first character appearance change is free in Red Dead Online, but you should think carefully about what changes you want to make because every visit after the first will run you a hefty $400. If this is your first time changing your character appearance since the initial character customization you underwent at the start of the game, which we assume it is, then luckily you won’t have to pay a dime. To bring up the Free Roam menu, press the “L” key on your keyboard - or the left D-pad if you are using a controller. In order to undergo any drastic facial and bodily reconstructions in RDO, you’ll need to go through the Free Roam menu and select the “Change Appearance” tab at the very bottom.
